Travel Safety
Safety guidance for weather, coast, wildlife, temples and road travel across Odisha.
Seasonal weather and cyclone awareness
The Odisha coast can be affected by cyclones and heavy rainfall roughly between June and October. We monitor weather advisories during this period and may adjust or postpone itineraries for guest safety when authorities issue warnings.
If you are travelling during these months, please keep some flexibility in your plans and stay reachable so we can share any weather-related updates promptly.
Coastal conditions and sea bathing
At beach destinations such as Puri, Gopalpur and Chandipur, sea and current conditions can change quickly and are not always visible from the shore. We advise sea bathing only within lifeguarded zones and only in the areas marked as safe by lifeguards on duty.
Please follow all instructions and flags displayed by lifeguards, and avoid entering the water where warning signs or restrictions are posted, regardless of how calm the sea may appear.
Wildlife safety and forest rules
In wildlife areas such as Similipal and Bhitarkanika, please remain inside vehicles or designated paths as instructed by forest guides, follow gate timings, and never attempt to approach or feed wild animals.
Forest department rules regarding permits, vehicle types and movement within core zones exist for both visitor safety and wildlife protection, and we ask all guests to comply with them fully.
Temple crowd safety during festivals
Festivals such as Rath Yatra draw very large crowds in Puri and other temple towns. Please stay close to your group, keep valuables secure, agree on a meeting point in case of separation, and follow instructions from local police and event volunteers regarding crowd movement.
Road travel and night driving
Our drivers avoid unnecessary night driving on ghat and forest roads where visibility and road conditions can be more challenging, unless a night journey is unavoidable for your itinerary. Please wear seatbelts at all times and avoid distracting the driver during the journey.
Personal belongings
Please keep valuables such as passports, identification, cash and electronics with you or securely stored, particularly in crowded areas, transport hubs and busy temple precincts, and avoid leaving bags unattended.
Health and medical preparedness
We recommend carrying any personal medication you regularly need, along with a basic first-aid kit, and staying hydrated, especially in coastal and forest areas. Please consult a qualified medical professional before travel regarding any vaccinations, medical conditions or fitness concerns, since we are not in a position to provide medical advice.
Emergency planning and contact
In case of an emergency during your trip, please contact your driver or guide first, and also reach out to us at +91 7008588317 so we can help coordinate support with local authorities or suppliers if needed.
Responsible behaviour
Following local instructions, respecting posted safety notices, and travelling with reasonable caution are the most effective ways to have a safe trip. We ask all guests to treat safety guidance from drivers, guides, lifeguards and forest staff as something to be followed, not merely a suggestion.
