Western Odisha
A western Odisha agricultural town known for the Dhanu Yatra open-air theatre festival, among the region's most distinctive events.
Bargarh's main claim to visitor interest is the annual Dhanu Yatra, staged across the whole town as an open-air re-enactment of the Krishna-Kansa legend, said to be one of the world's largest open-air theatre events by area covered.
Outside the festival period, Bargarh is a workaday agricultural and handloom town best combined with Sambalpur rather than visited as an independent multi-day stop.
About 30 km from Sambalpur, roughly 45 minutes; 350 km from Bhubaneswar.
350 km, around 7-7.5 hours by road.
