Short answer
Biju Patnaik International Airport (BBI) is close to Bhubaneswar city centre — about 6 km — and connects onward to Puri (about 60 km, 1.5 hours by road) and Konark (about 65 km) by prepaid taxi or pre-arranged car.
Getting from the airport into the city
Prepaid taxi counters operate inside the arrivals hall, and app-based cabs are also available outside. The drive to central Bhubaneswar hotels typically takes 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.
Airport to Puri and Konark
There is no direct rail or airport link to Puri, so road transfer is standard: approximately 1.5 hours to Puri and 1.5-2 hours to Konark, both via NH316 or the Bhubaneswar-Puri-Konark marine belt road.
Domestic and limited international connections
BBI serves major Indian metros — Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad — plus a small number of international routes; travellers connecting internationally usually route through Kolkata, Chennai or Delhi.
Practical tips
Book airport transfers in advance during Rath Yatra season (June/July) and around Durga Puja, when both taxi demand and road traffic through Bhubaneswar spike.
