Short answer
A 5-6 day route through Bhubaneswar, Nandankanan Zoological Park, Puri and Konark balances cultural sites with beach time and family-friendly wildlife viewing, without the long drives that southern or western Odisha legs would add.
Pacing for children
Building in downtime at the hotel or beach between temple visits keeps the trip manageable; the Khandagiri-Udayagiri caves and Konark's open plinth involve walking and some sun exposure best timed for cooler morning hours.
Nandankanan Zoological Park
Just outside Bhubaneswar, this zoo and botanical garden includes a white tiger safari and boating on its lake, generally a reliable half-day with children.
Beach time in Puri
Puri's beach gives children room to play, though swimming should be limited strictly to marked lifeguard-monitored zones given variable currents elsewhere on the shore.
Food for children
Hotel restaurants and mid-range establishments in Bhubaneswar and Puri offer familiar options alongside Odia food, useful for children less used to spice.
Practical notes
A private car with driver for the whole trip avoids the schedule pressure of trains or shared transport with young children, and is worth the modest extra cost for a family group.
