Daringbadi
Odisha's coolest hill station, known locally as the state's 'Kashmir' for occasional winter frost and pine-forested slopes.
Daringbadi sits above 3,000 feet in the Kandhamal hills, with a noticeably cooler climate than the rest of Odisha — winter mornings occasionally see frost, a rarity in the state. Coffee and spice plantations cover much of the surrounding terrain, alongside pine forest introduced in the colonial period.
It is a nature and scenery destination rather than a monument-based one: waterfalls, valley viewpoints and plantation walks make up most itineraries, best paced over two unhurried nights.
