Wide open water of Chilika Lake under a pale sky

3 Days / 2 Nights · comfort itinerary

Chilika Lake Tour

Bhubaneswar — Satapada — Mangalajodi — Barkul

Chilika is Asia's largest brackish-water lagoon and covers a large enough area that Satapada, Mangalajodi and Barkul each show a different side of it — dolphins at the sea mouth, migratory birds in the northern marshes, and open lake views at Barkul. This itinerary works by giving each access point its own half-day rather than trying to combine them all into one long day.

Mangalajodi is scheduled for an early morning specifically because birding activity and boat visibility are both best before mid-morning.

Tour highlights

  • Satapada dolphin boat ride
  • Mangalajodi wetland birding boat trip
  • Barkul lakeside evening
  • Rajhans sandbar and sea mouth
